UKKO is a sky god in Karelian-Finnish mythology. In the myths of the Karelians, the duck was considered the progenitor of the world. According to Karelian cosmogonic myth, celestial spheres, namely the Sun and Moon, rose from the duck’s eggs, whereas his body gave origin to the primordial earth.
