Woodstock would not have taken place if the organizers of the festival had not come to the aid of Max Yasgur, a farmer who agreed to hold the event on his territory despite the discontent and active opposition of his neighbors and local authorities. So the home of Woodstock became a large field on White Lake in the state of New York.

Yasgur helped the festival in every possible way, despite the obvious losses to his household, and addressed the participants and visitors.
